Expect to take two: the trust homes kittens in pairs where it can and suggests £190 for a pair. Raystede charges £130 a kitten but keeps a long waiting list. Our Brighton kittens page shows today's list.

Where to find a rescue kitten near Brighton

Our Brighton kittens page gathers every young cat listed with us inside 19 miles. Kittens move fast, so register with the rescues below as well.

Worthing Cat Welfare Trust

The trust keeps mothers and kittens in a shelter of their own and places the rest of its cats from other shelters and foster homes around Worthing. Its list, last updated on 2 November 2026, showed Nyx and Nala at 13 weeks plus a reserved pair of 6 months. Kittens aren't usually advertised, so say on your application that you want one; a home check comes before any visit.

The Kit Wilson Trust, Hadlow Down

Rather than a card per kitten, Kit Wilson shows one "Kittens" listing that says some are ready to go now. Ring or use its enquiry form to register what you want; viewings are by appointment only.

Raystede, near Ringmer

Raystede has kittens now and then but says applicants wait a long time for one. Send its application form so the cattery team has your details when a litter arrives.

Kittens for Eastbourne and Worthing

Searching from Eastbourne? Our Eastbourne kittens page reaches Celia Hammond Animal Trust's Greenacres centre at Brede and Rolvenden Cat Rescue, which already list with us. From Worthing, the Worthing kittens page adds The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre at Sidlesham to Worthing Cat Welfare Trust on your doorstep.

Kitten rules at Sussex rescues

These conditions come up most often before a kitten goes home:

  • Two together. Worthing Cat Welfare Trust homes kittens in the pairs it has already made up; you choose the pair, not two single kittens.
  • Your cats' ages. It places kittens only with resident cats aged six or under, and prefers a home with a younger resident cat for a single kitten.
  • Neutering. Neutering at the right age is a condition of adoption, and the kitten must not be bred from.
  • Settling in. The trust's advice page says to keep a new cat in for at least a fortnight, longer if it is shy.

What comes with a rescue kitten

Every cat or kitten Worthing Cat Welfare Trust offers is vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped and, if old enough, neutered, and it comes with five weeks of free insurance. England's law wants every pet cat chipped once it is over 20 weeks old, rescue or bought. Open to an older cat? Our Brighton cat rescues guide compares the adult cats' rescues.

Searching "kittens for sale Brighton"?

A rescue never sells a kitten. You apply, it matches you, and the fee or donation covers part of the vet care already done. Our kittens page works the same way: each kitten links to the rescue that has it, with no price attached.

If you buy, England's Lucy's Law means a kitten under six months comes from its breeder, not a shop or dealer, since 6 April 2020. See it with its mother, and send any advert asking for a deposit before a visit to Report Fraud.

The law in England

Microchipping cats

In England, cats must be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old and registered on a database, a rule in force since 10 June 2024. An owner found without one has 21 days to comply or may be fined up to £500. Free-living cats (farm, feral and community cats) are exempt.

Lucy's Law: buying a kitten

In England, Lucy's Law has meant since 6 April 2020 that kittens under six months can't be sold by a third party such as a pet shop or dealer: you buy direct from the breeder or adopt from a rehoming centre.
