List Your Pet Now

How It Works
Submit Your Listing
Fill out a simple form with your pet’s details, photos, and your reason for rehoming. Takes about 10 minutes.
We Review It
A person checks your listing for safety, usually within a day. We’ll email you when it’s live.
Connect With Adopters
Your pet appears on LocalPetFinder alongside rescue animals. Interested adopters contact you through our platform.
Why Rehome Through LocalPetFinder?
Think of LocalPetFinder as your free pet rehomer: we bring the adopters, you stay in control of who your dog or cat goes home with. No middleman takes custody of your pet, and nothing changes hands until you have met the adopter and said yes.
Reach Serious Adopters
LocalPetFinder attracts people actively looking to adopt. Your pet is seen by adopters browsing by breed, size and compatibility, not random browsers on classifieds.
Your Privacy Protected
Your email and personal info are never shown publicly. Interested adopters contact you through our platform, and you choose who to respond to.
Completely Free
No listing fees, no commissions, no hidden costs. See exactly how to rehome a dog for free, the safe way, from listing to handover.
Keep Pets Out of Kennels
Direct rehoming means your pet goes straight to a new family: no kennel stress, no uncertainty, and one more rescue space freed up for animals with nowhere else to go.
What We Accept
Dogs, cats and rabbits. Pick dog, cat or rabbit on the submission form and fill in the details that fit your pet. Other pets aren't supported yet.
Owner rehoming only. You must be the current owner of the pet. No breeders, pet shops or third-party sellers, and up to two listings a year.
Aged 6 months or older, and legal to rehome. Dogs must be microchipped (and cats in England), and we can't list a banned type such as an XL Bully.
Owners anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Enter your postcode first on the submission form and it tells you straight away where your listing will show: your city's page if you live in or around Ashford, Barnsley, Barrow-in-Furness, Bath and North East Somerset, Belfast, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bolton, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, Bradford, Brighton and Hove, Bristol, Bury St Edmunds, Canterbury, Cardiff, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Cheltenham, Chester, Chesterfield, Chippenham, Colchester, Coventry, Crawley, Darlington, Derby, Doncaster, Dover, Dumfries and Galloway, Durham, Eastbourne, Edinburgh, Exeter, Falmouth, Folkestone, Glasgow, Gloucester, Grantham, Great Yarmouth, Guildford, Hartlepool, Hayle, Huddersfield, Ipswich, Kendal, Kidderminster, Kingston upon Hull, Lancaster, Leeds, Leicester, Lincoln, Liverpool, Llanelli, London, Lowestoft, Luton, Maidstone, Manchester, Mansfield, Margate, Middlesbrough, Milton Keynes, Newcastle upon Tyne, Newport, Newquay, North East Lincolnshire, Northampton, Norwich, Nottingham, Oxford, Penrith, Peterborough, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Preston, Reading, Rotherham, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Sleaford, Solihull, Southampton, Southport, Spalding, St. Helens, Stockport, Stoke-on-Trent, Sunderland, Swansea, Torbay, Truro, Wakefield, Walsall, Warrington, Watford, Wellingborough, Wigan, Wirral, Wolverhampton, Worcester, Worthing, Wrexham and York, otherwise your county or nation page, alongside local rescue pets. Any rehoming fee is arranged directly between you and the adopter and paid at the handover, never as a deposit.
Guides for Your Situation
Why you are rehoming changes what to do first. Pick the guide that matches your situation, or the page for your city to see the local rescues that take owners' pets.
Breed-Specific Rehoming Guides
Rehoming a Husky is a different job from rehoming a Chihuahua. Each guide covers why the breed ends up needing new homes, what to tell adopters, and the breed rescues that take owners' pets.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a pet rehomer, and is LocalPetFinder one?
A pet rehomer is a service that helps an owner find their dog or cat a new home instead of handing them to a rescue. LocalPetFinder works as a free pet rehomer for the UK: you list your pet at no cost, adopters near you contact you through the platform, and you choose who your pet goes home with. Unlike a rescue or a broker, we never take custody of your pet: you screen the adopters and hand over directly.
Can I rehome a cat on LocalPetFinder?
Yes. You can rehome a dog, a cat or a rabbit. Choose at the top of the submission form and fill in the details that fit your pet. Listing is free for all three, and a rehomed cat appears alongside rescue cats on the cat listings for your city.
Is it free to list my pet on LocalPetFinder?
Yes. Listing your dog or cat for rehoming on LocalPetFinder is completely free. There are no listing fees, no commissions and no hidden costs.
How long does it take for my listing to go live?
A person checks every listing before it goes live, usually within a day. Once approved, your pet appears alongside rescue animals on LocalPetFinder, visible to adopters in your area.
Will my personal information be shared?
No. Your email address is never shown publicly. Potential adopters contact you through our platform, and you decide who to respond to.
Can I remove my listing?
Yes. Use the private link in your confirmation email to update or remove your listing at any time, or mark your pet as adopted and the listing comes down straight away.
Should I consider surrendering to a rescue instead?
If you cannot wait for an adopter, handing your pet to a rescue or rehoming centre is a good option. Dogs Trust, Blue Cross and many local rescues take owners’ pets, though most have waiting lists. Our guide to giving up a dog walks through every option, what it costs and the free alternatives, so you can compare it against rehoming your dog yourself. Our city pages list the local rescues near you.
