What we do

LocalPetFinder is a free search service. We gather listings of dogs, cats and rabbits that rescues and rehoming centres in the UK have published, so you can search them in one place. We are not a rescue or rehoming centre. We don't own, house or rehome any animal, and we are not a party to any adoption.

Adopting an animal

Every adoption is arranged directly between you and the rescue. The rescue sets its own application process, home checks, adoption fee and conditions, and decides who adopts. Please read the rescue's own information carefully and ask them any questions before you commit.

Accuracy of listings

Listings come from rescues' own websites and can change quickly: an animal may already be reserved or rehomed by the time you see it here. Some details, such as whether an animal can live with children or other pets, may be worked out from the rescue's description rather than stated outright. We try to keep listings accurate and up to date, but we can't guarantee it. Always confirm the details with the rescue.

Content on the site

Photos and descriptions of animals belong to the rescues that published them, and each listing links back to the rescue. If you run a rescue and would like a listing corrected or removed, or would prefer we didn't list your animals, contact us and we will act promptly. The rest of the site's design and text belongs to LocalPetFinder.

Using the site

Please don't misuse the site: for example by trying to disrupt it, gain unauthorised access to it, or copy it in bulk by automated means.

Links to other websites

We link to rescues' websites and other sites we don't control. We aren't responsible for their content or how they handle your personal data, so please read their own terms and privacy notices.

Our responsibility to you

The site is provided free of charge and “as is”. We aren't responsible for the decisions or actions of rescues, or for any arrangement you make with them. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
