Where Brighton's rescue kittens were on 5 November
Worthing Cat Welfare Trust had a 13-week-old pair ready for a home that day and a 6-month-old pair already reserved. The Kit Wilson Trust at Hadlow Down said it had "many kittens of all ages", though it doesn't list them one by one, so register with it by phone or its enquiry form.
Raystede had no kittens listed and says the list of people waiting for one is long.
Pairs, and the age of your own cat
Worthing Cat Welfare Trust homes kittens in pairs wherever it can. A single kitten goes preferably to a home with a younger resident cat, and no kitten joins a household whose cats are older than six. It also makes neutering at the right age a condition of adoption.
Kitten fees near Brighton
Raystede and Wadars both charge £130 for a kitten. Worthing Cat Welfare Trust suggests £100 for one kitten or £190 for a pair.
Searched "kittens for sale" in Brighton, Worthing or Eastbourne? No rescue here puts a price on a kitten: the fee or donation helps pay for jabs, the chip and neutering. A private seller who wants a deposit up front, sight unseen, is a red flag worth passing to Report Fraud.
Each rescue sets its own fee. Cats Protection says you can expect to pay £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten, varying between its branches, and Blue Cross kittens up to 16 weeks start from £175. The fee usually covers neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations, and each rescue confirms its own fee.
The law in England
- Microchipping cats. In England, cats must be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old and registered on a database, a rule in force since 10 June 2024. An owner found without one has 21 days to comply or may be fined up to £500. Free-living cats (farm, feral and community cats) are exempt.
- Lucy's Law: buying a kitten. In England, Lucy's Law has meant since 6 April 2020 that kittens under six months can't be sold by a third party such as a pet shop or dealer: you buy direct from the breeder or adopt from a rehoming centre.

Can rescues rehome kittens under six months?
Yes. Lucy's Law stops third-party sales, not rescues. In England, Lucy's Law has meant since 6 April 2020 that kittens under six months can't be sold by a third party such as a pet shop or dealer: you buy direct from the breeder or adopt from a rehoming centre.
Do kittens need to be microchipped?
Yes, in England. Since 10 June 2024 cats must be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old and registered on a database. Check the kitten's profile or ask the rescue whether it has been chipped.
Are rescue kittens vaccinated and neutered when I adopt them?
At the large charities, the fee pays for that vet work. Cats Protection says its cats are vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and neutered (or come with a neutering voucher if they are young kittens), with a vet health check and four weeks' free insurance. Smaller rescues set their own terms, so ask what a particular kitten has had and whether a vaccination or neutering is still due.
Can I adopt two kittens together in Brighton and Hove?
Yes: as of 7 November 2026, 2 of the 5 kittens listed in and around Brighton and Hove are marked by their rescue as part of a pair or group to be adopted together. Blue Cross fees for a pair of kittens start from £275. Cats their rescue lists as a bonded pair are on our bonded cats page.
Are the kittens in Brighton and Hove good with children and other pets?
It depends on the cat, not its size or age. As of 7 November 2026, the rescues mark 1 of the 5 kittens listed in and around Brighton and Hove as able to live with children, 4 with other cats and 0 with dogs. Where a profile says nothing, ask the rescue, and supervise early meetings with children whatever the cat.

Are there kittens for sale in Brighton and Hove?
No. We don't list animals for sale. Every kitten on this page is with a rescue or rehoming centre. The 5 kittens listed in and around Brighton and Hove today are with The Kit Wilson Trust at Hadlow Down, about 18 miles away (3), Worthing Cat Welfare Trust at Worthing, about 10 miles away (1) and Croydon Animal Samaritans at Horsham, about 18 miles away (1), and each rescue shows its own fee on the profile. For comparison, Cats Protection says £100 to £120 for a kitten on average. In England, Lucy's Law has meant since 6 April 2020 that kittens under six months can't be sold by a third party such as a pet shop or dealer: you buy direct from the breeder or adopt from a rehoming centre.
Where can I buy a kitten in Brighton and Hove, and should I?
Not here: we only list cats with rescues, so every kitten listed here is adopted for the rescue's fee, which usually covers vet work already done. Whether to buy is your choice. Adopting means the rescue can tell you what it knows about the kitten's history and health before you apply. If you decide to buy a pedigree kitten, Cats Protection suggests a breeder registered with a breed association such as the GCCF, and seeing the kitten with its mother at home rather than buying from a video or social media advert.
Can I get a free kitten to a good home in Brighton and Hove, or one under £100?
Usually not. UK rescues normally ask for an adoption fee, which pays towards neutering, microchipping and vaccinations. Of the 5 kittens listed in and around Brighton and Hove today, each shows its rescue's fee on the profile; the nearest rescue is Worthing Cat Welfare Trust at Worthing, about 10 miles away. At the large cat charities, fees for one cat are under £200: Cats Protection says £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten, and Blue Cross fees start from £150 for cats aged 4 months to 7 years. An animal offered "free to a good home" is usually a private advert rather than a rescue. In England, cats must be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old, so ask to see the microchip details.
