Where the rescue kittens near Northampton were

Our Northampton kittens page fills from this update with the young cats both rescues list inside 25 miles. On their own pages that day:

  • [Animals In Need Northamptonshire](https://animals-in-need.org/animal-type/cat/) (Little Irchester, by Wellingborough): pairs and trios of kittens of about four months, several already reserved, and mothers with their litters, among them Willow with five kittens and Raine with three.
  • [NAWT Bedfordshire](https://www.nawt.org.uk/rehoming/cats/?centre=62) (Aspley Guise, about 19 miles from Northampton): kittens of two and three months, about half of them reserved, and a reserved young cat of nine months.

Pairs, children and home checks

The rules differ by rescue (Animals In Need, NAWT):

  • Two kittens, not one. Animals In Need doesn't rehome a kitten on its own, or kittens to a home with children under 5.
  • Appointments by email. Animals In Need's cat viewings are by appointment, and every adoption needs a home check; it isn't first come, first served.
  • Register interest. NAWT contacts matched applicants in date order, then you visit; it opens 11am to 4pm, closed Tuesdays.

Searched "kittens for sale" in Northampton?

These rescues don't sell kittens, and none on our pages is for sale or free; the fee pays for jabs, the chip and neutering. If you buy, see the kitten with its mother where it was born. Under Lucy's Law, in England a kitten under 6 months can be sold only by its breeder, not a pet shop or dealer, and since June 2024 cats in England must be microchipped by 20 weeks. Report a seller who wants a deposit before a visit to Report Fraud.

Cats Protection branches around Northampton

Cats Protection's Northampton Branch covers Northampton, Daventry and Towcester, and its Milton Keynes branch covers the MK postcodes; enquire through each cat's listing on their site, as we don't list their cats. Our cat rescues guide compares every option.

The law in England

Microchipping cats

In England, cats must be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old and registered on a database, a rule in force since 10 June 2024. An owner found without one has 21 days to comply or may be fined up to £500. Free-living cats (farm, feral and community cats) are exempt.

Lucy's Law: buying a kitten

In England, Lucy's Law has meant since 6 April 2020 that kittens under six months can't be sold by a third party such as a pet shop or dealer: you buy direct from the breeder or adopt from a rehoming centre.
