Before this update we listed no cats within 25 miles of Northampton. Two rescues now add theirs: Animals In Need Northamptonshire at Little Irchester by Wellingborough, about 10 miles away, and NAWT Bedfordshire at Aspley Guise, about 19 miles south and much nearer Milton Keynes.
When we checked on 7 November 2026, most of Animals In Need's cat cards were litters and pairs, including mothers with their kittens, alongside a couple of cats of about 10.
Animals In Need asks a minimum donation of £75 for an adult cat or £200 for a pair of kittens. NAWT charges £120 for a cat. Both include four weeks of free insurance.
Each rescue sets its own adoption fee. Cats Protection says you can expect to pay £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten, varying between its branches, and Blue Cross fees start from £150 for cats aged 4 months to 7 years. The fee usually covers neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations, and each rescue confirms its own fee.
Book before you go (Animals In Need, NAWT):
Cats Protection's Northampton Branch covers Northampton, Daventry and Towcester and asks £85 a cat or £105 a kitten, and its Milton Keynes branch covers the MK postcodes. The RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch at Rushden rehomes cats too. Their cats aren't on LocalPetFinder, so check those sites too.
Our guide to cat rescues around Northampton compares them, and if you typed "kittens for sale" in Northampton or Milton Keynes, start with our rescue kittens guide. The kittens, older cats and bonded pairs pages sort the cats waiting now.

From Animals In Need Northamptonshire at Little Irchester, about 10 miles away, or NAWT Bedfordshire at Aspley Guise, about 19 miles. Both list their cats with us from this update; applications go to the rescue itself.
Animals In Need asks a minimum donation of £75 for an adult cat or £200 for a pair of kittens. NAWT charges £120 for a cat. Cats Protection's Northampton Branch, which we don't list, asks £85 a cat and £105 a kitten.
Not from Animals In Need: it rehomes kittens in pairs only, and not to homes with children under 5. Ask NAWT Bedfordshire about the kitten you like.
Animals In Need's cats leave fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, with four weeks of free insurance. NAWT gives four weeks of free Petplan cover with each animal.
NAWT Bedfordshire asks owners to contact its reception first. Our Northampton rehoming page covers the options.

No. LocalPetFinder is an independent UK website and is not connected with Petfinder. We bring together dogs, cats and rabbits from UK rescues and rehoming centres, and every profile links to the rescue that cares for the animal, so you apply with them directly.
Pets4Homes describes itself as the UK’s largest online pet marketplace, connecting buyers with breeders as well as shelters and charities. LocalPetFinder is for adoption: our listings come from rescues and rehoming centres and from owners rehoming their own pet, each checked by a reviewer before it goes live. We do not take adverts from breeders.
No. We do not list the RSPCA’s animals, at its national centres or its branches. To see them, use RSPCA Find a Pet, the RSPCA’s own search for animals in its centres and branches across England and Wales.
