Cats in Crisis Lincoln, Harmston
A small volunteer charity five miles south of the city, Cats in Crisis Lincoln homes cats only in Lincoln and the villages around it. Its cats page said "No kittens available at the moment" on 5 November 2026 and had not changed since July, so ring rather than wait for the list to update.
Feline and Wildlife Rescue Nottingham, foster homes
Two registered veterinary nurses set up Feline and Wildlife Rescue Nottingham, which now has more than twenty cat fosterers in Nottinghamshire. It had a 10-week-old pair, a 4-month-old and a 5-month-old pair listed with us on 5 November 2026. Its adoption page says a fee and a home check apply. See our Feline and Wildlife Rescue Nottingham page.
RAIN Rescue, Misson
RAIN Rescue shows each cat's fee on its profile. After a meet and greet it will hold a cat for up to 7 days for a £50 reservation fee, and a reserved kitten stays until its first vaccination. Its cats are on our RAIN Rescue page.
Kittens for Grantham
Our Grantham cats page starts from Grantham and reaches into Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. It includes Meow and Furever Cat Rescue, whose fosterers are across Nottinghamshire: it charges £125 a cat or kitten, ideally homes kittens in bonded pairs (a single kitten can join a young resident cat), wants a short video tour of house and garden, and one of its volunteers delivers the cat.
Kitten rules at the rescues near Lincoln
Expect these conditions before a kitten goes home:
- Indoors to 9 months. Cats in Crisis asks you to keep a kitten in until it is at least 9 months old, then fit a cat flap or give it another way in.
- Quiet roads. Cats in Crisis won't rehome on main or busy roads.
- Pairs. Meow and Furever prefers bonded pairs of kittens; Cats in Crisis homes its pairs together.
- Renting. Cats in Crisis needs written permission from your landlord.
What comes with a rescue kitten
Every cat or kitten Cats in Crisis takes in is vet checked, neutered, microchipped, wormed and flea treated before it goes. English law wants every pet cat chipped by 20 weeks, rescue or not. Happy to take an adult instead? Our guide to cat rescues around Lincoln covers them.
Searching "kittens for sale Lincoln" or "Grantham"?
A rescue doesn't sell kittens: you apply, it matches you with one, and the fee helps cover the vet care already given. Our kittens page has no price tags: the rescue caring for each kitten handles its adoption.
Buying instead? Under England's Lucy's Law, in force from 6 April 2020, kittens younger than six months come from the breeder, not a shop or dealer. Visit and see the mother cat; a seller who asks for money up front should go to Report Fraud.
The law in England
Microchipping cats
In England, cats must be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old and registered on a database, a rule in force since 10 June 2024. An owner found without one has 21 days to comply or may be fined up to £500. Free-living cats (farm, feral and community cats) are exempt.
Lucy's Law: buying a kitten
In England, Lucy's Law has meant since 6 April 2020 that kittens under six months can't be sold by a third party such as a pet shop or dealer: you buy direct from the breeder or adopt from a rehoming centre.
