The Bichon Frise is a small white toy dog. The Royal Kennel Club describes it as a "little white Mediterranean dog with soft corkscrew curls". It says "bichon" means white dog and "frise" describes the curly coat, and that France was the country where the breed was developed, though the Bichon is thought to have existed on Tenerife as far back as the 14th century.
As of 8 November 2026, 4 Bichon Frises are listed with rescues in Wales on LocalPetFinder: by their listed age, 4 adults.
2 of them are listed as a cross, as the rescue describes it: Bichon Frise Cross and Bichon Frise x Poodle. Breed labels on rescue listings are often a best guess from looks.
The rescues mark 3 as able to live with children, 1 with cats and 4 with other dogs. Where a profile says nothing, it doesn't mean no: ask the rescue.

With the rescue that has the dog. Today the Bichon Frises on this page are with Many Tears Animal Rescue (4). Open a profile and apply to that rescue: each one runs its own application, home check and adoption fee. We don't rehome animals ourselves.
Very little. The Royal Kennel Club lists the breed as not shedding, and Dogs Trust describes low shedding. The curly coat needs brushing every day instead, to stop it from matting.
Up to 30 minutes a day, according to The Royal Kennel Club. Dogs Trust says Bichons need regular exercise and stimulation but might not manage long or strenuous walks. Ask the rescue about this dog, as age and health make a difference.
It depends on the dog, not the breed. Today the rescues mark 3 of the 4 Bichon Frises listed in Wales as able to live with children. Where a profile says nothing, ask the rescue what age of children the dog could live with.

No. We don't list animals for sale. Every Bichon Frise on this page is with a rescue or rehoming centre. The 4 Bichon Frises listed in Wales today are with Many Tears Animal Rescue at Llanelli (4), and each rescue shows its own fee on the profile. For comparison, Dogs Trust £300, and Blue Cross puppies under six months start from £525. If you searched "bichon frise puppies for sale Wales", the Bichon Frises here are the rescue route: you apply to the rescue and pay its adoption fee, not a sale price. In Wales, Lucy's Law has meant since 10 September 2021 that puppies can only be bought where they were bred, or from a rescue or rehoming centre.
Usually not. UK rescues normally ask for an adoption fee, which pays towards neutering, microchipping and vaccinations. Of the 4 Bichon Frises listed in Wales today, each shows its rescue's fee on the profile; all are with Many Tears Animal Rescue at Llanelli (4). Many rescue fees are under £500: Dogs Trust charges £300, and Blue Cross from £235 for dogs aged 8 or over. An animal offered "free to a good home" is usually a private advert rather than a rescue. All dogs in the UK must be microchipped by 8 weeks old, and in England, Wales and Scotland a dog can't pass to a new keeper until it is chipped, so ask to see the microchip details.
Not right now: none of the 4 listed in Wales is under a year old by its listed age. Puppies do get listed, so check back or look at the adults, whose rescues can tell you much more about their character.
