What Staffies are like to live with

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a British breed. The Royal Kennel Club says it was developed in the Black Country of Staffordshire and northern parts of Birmingham, and was recognised in the 1930s. It sums the breed up as "highly intelligent and affectionate especially with children", and says the breed standard notes its intelligence and affinity with children.

Which rescues near North East Lincolnshire have Staffies right now, and how old are they?

As of 8 November 2026, Jerry Green Dog Rescue (at Broughton, about 18 miles away): 2, Greenleaf Animal Rescue (at Kingston upon Hull, about 16 miles away): 1 and Oakwood Dog Rescue (at Kingston upon Hull, about 16 miles away): 1. The newest was added on 4 November 2026. Each profile links to the rescue, which handles the adoption.

Where can I adopt a Staffy in North East Lincolnshire?

With the rescue that has the dog. Today the Staffies on this page are with Jerry Green Dog Rescue (2), Greenleaf Animal Rescue (1) and Oakwood Dog Rescue (1). Open a profile and apply to that rescue: each one runs its own application, home check and adoption fee. We don't rehome animals ourselves.

Are Staffies a banned breed in the UK?

No. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is not a banned type. The banned types are the Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and XL Bully, and gov.uk says a dog's type is judged on what it looks like rather than its breed or name. Rescues cannot rehome a banned type, so none are listed on LocalPetFinder.

Are Staffies good with children?

Often, but not always. The Royal Kennel Club describes the breed as "affectionate especially with children", while PDSA notes Staffies are very high energy and might not suit families with younger children. Ask the rescue whether this dog has lived with children and what age of children they would rehome it with; the rescue's assessment of the dog matters more than the breed.

How much does it cost to adopt a Staffy in North East Lincolnshire?

The Staffies listed in and around North East Lincolnshire today are with Jerry Green Dog Rescue at Broughton, about 18 miles away (2), Greenleaf Animal Rescue at Kingston upon Hull, about 16 miles away (1) and Oakwood Dog Rescue at Kingston upon Hull, about 16 miles away (1); each profile shows that rescue's fee. Each rescue sets its own adoption fee. Dogs Trust charges £300 for a puppy or adult dog in England, Wales and Scotland, and Blue Cross fees start from £235 for dogs aged 8 or over and £335 for dogs aged 1 to 7. The fee usually covers neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations, and each rescue confirms its own fee.

Are there Staffy puppies for sale in North East Lincolnshire?

No. We don't list animals for sale. Every Staffy on this page is with a rescue or rehoming centre. The 4 Staffies listed in and around North East Lincolnshire today are with Jerry Green Dog Rescue at Broughton, about 18 miles away (2), Greenleaf Animal Rescue at Kingston upon Hull, about 16 miles away (1) and Oakwood Dog Rescue at Kingston upon Hull, about 16 miles away (1), and each rescue shows its own fee on the profile. For comparison, Dogs Trust £300, and Blue Cross puppies under six months start from £525. If you searched "staffy puppies for sale North East Lincolnshire", the Staffies here are the rescue route: you apply to the rescue and pay its adoption fee, not a sale price. In England, Lucy's Law has meant since 6 April 2020 that puppies under six months can't be sold by a third party such as a pet shop or dealer: you buy direct from the breeder or adopt from a rehoming centre.

Can I get a free Staffy to a good home in North East Lincolnshire, or one under £500?

Usually not. UK rescues normally ask for an adoption fee, which pays towards neutering, microchipping and vaccinations. Of the 4 Staffies listed in and around North East Lincolnshire today, each shows its rescue's fee on the profile; the nearest rescue is Greenleaf Animal Rescue at Kingston upon Hull, about 16 miles away. Many rescue fees are under £500: Dogs Trust charges £300, and Blue Cross from £235 for dogs aged 8 or over. An animal offered "free to a good home" is usually a private advert rather than a rescue. All dogs in the UK must be microchipped by 8 weeks old, and in England, Wales and Scotland a dog can't pass to a new keeper until it is chipped, so ask to see the microchip details.

Are there Staffy puppies for adoption in North East Lincolnshire?
