What Cavapoos are like to live with
A Cavapoo is "a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle", in Dogs Trust's words, and Dogs Trust names it among the popular Poodle crossbreeds. It is not a breed. It isn't on The Royal Kennel Club's Breeds A to Z, so it has no Royal Kennel Club breed standard, and we found no Cavapoo guide from Dogs Trust, PDSA, Battersea or Blue Cross when we checked on 16 October 2026. What follows comes from what the charities say about Poodle crosses, and from the two parent breeds.
Sources (checked 16 October 2026)
- The Royal Kennel Club: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (Poodle rows from the Toy, Miniature and Standard Poodle pages; the definition from Dogs Trust. All in sources. These are the parent breeds, not the cross.)

Breed descriptions are general. Every rescue animal is an individual, so the rescue's own assessment of the animal comes first.
Cavapoos in Northern Ireland: your questions
Tap a question to expand
How many rescue Cavapoos are available for adoption in Northern Ireland?
As of 8 November 2026, no Cavapoos are listed for adoption in Northern Ireland on LocalPetFinder. Rescues add animals all the time, so this page fills as they list them.
Is a Cavapoo a breed?
No. Dogs Trust describes the Cavapoo as a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle, and it is not on The Royal Kennel Club's Breeds A to Z, so it has no Royal Kennel Club breed standard. A cross can take after either parent, so size, coat and temperament vary.
Are Cavapoos hypoallergenic?
Not reliably. Doodle Trust says "No dog is allergy friendly" and that a Poodle cross may shed little, like a Poodle, or a great deal, depending on the coat it inherits, which can change in adulthood. If someone at home has allergies, ask the rescue whether you can spend time with the adult dog first.
How much does it cost to adopt a Cavapoo in Northern Ireland?
Each rescue sets its own adoption fee, and Dogs Trust charges £287.50 for a puppy or adult dog in Northern Ireland (where you also need a dog licence). The fee usually covers neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations, and each rescue confirms its own fee.
Are there Cavapoo puppies for sale in Northern Ireland?
No. We don't list animals for sale. Every Cavapoo on this page is with a rescue or rehoming centre. Rescues rehome animals rather than selling them, usually for an adoption fee: for example, Dogs Trust £287.50 in Northern Ireland. The fee usually goes towards vet work already done, such as neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations. If you searched "cavapoo puppies for sale Northern Ireland", the Cavapoos here are the rescue route: you apply to the rescue and pay its adoption fee, not a sale price.
Can I get a free Cavapoo to a good home in Northern Ireland, or one under £500?
Usually not. UK rescues normally ask for an adoption fee, which pays towards neutering, microchipping and vaccinations. Many rescue fees are under £500: Dogs Trust charges £287.50 for a puppy or adult dog. An animal offered "free to a good home" is usually a private advert rather than a rescue. In Northern Ireland all dogs must be microchipped at eight weeks old, so ask to see the microchip details (see nidirect).
Are there Cavapoo puppies for adoption in Northern Ireland?
Not right now: no Cavapoos are listed in Northern Ireland today, so there are no puppies either. Puppies do get listed, and rescues can tell you much more about an adult's character, so check back.
Is there a Cavapoo rescue near me in Northern Ireland?
