No British Bulldogs were listed with the rescues near Birmingham when we checked on 29 October 2026. Bulldog Rescue & Rehoming, a charity registered in England and Wales, works differently from a kennel rescue: many of its dogs are still in their own homes, so you are matched rather than visiting a centre.
You register via the app, receive a list of matching dogs within 48 hours and say which ones interest you. If you match, your details go to the dog's rehomer, who makes the final decision, and the charity checks your home only once a dog has been offered. For security, because of the risk of theft, you cannot visit a dog until you have been vetted, and it looks first at applicants who live in the dog's own area.

The Royal Kennel Club calls the breed simply the Bulldog, and describes it as "the iconic British breed symbolising the spirit of the country". Its breed page says the Bulldog "is a calm, affectionate breed that thrives on human company", with a temperament that is "typically gentle and good natured". It says Bulldogs can be strong willed and respond better to short, positive training than to firm correction.
