About Shelby

Shelby is a stunning girl who originally came to the rescue as a stray earlier this year. She was adopted out but sadly returned due to the owners struggling with her behaviour. Shelby is a super friendly, playful girl who has been so friendly with people from when she first arrived as a stray! She's a confident girl who loves being out and about exploring and she loves her walks! She can be quite strong on lead, we did start gen-con training her when she first arrived to kennels. She will need strong owners but she is manageable. Shelby arrived as a stray so unfortunately had no previous history on her, but with her short period in a home, we have found out more about her. She was sadly returned for a couple reasons, but these are manageable areas which we can explain to anyone interested. In the home she would get quite excitable and start mouthing her owners, and off-lead she would be quite protective of her ball/toys around other dogs. Because of this we are currently looking at re-homing her as the only dog in the home and with older children 16+. We will be reassessing Shelby while she is with us again. Also, Shelby did snap in the home, this was while she was getting treatment for an injury. Again, we can explain this behaviour and how to manage Shelby in the home. Generally Shelby is a great girl who does need some boundaries and correct handling in place in the home. She is generally friendly with most dogs, house trained, travels well in the car and settles well in the home. We hope her previous behaviour doesn't put people off as she is a very affectionate, gorgeous girl who would make an amazing companion to the right family. We hope she isn't in kennels long and is back to home comforts soon.
