About Basil
Basil is a wonderful young dog who was signed over to the rescue earlier in the year with his two sisters. His sisters both quickly found new homes but sadly lovely Basil is still patiently waiting for his turn.
Basil is incredibly intelligent, loyal and loving, he picks up commands quickly and will thrive in a home with confident and experienced owners who are committed to his training and pushing him to fulfill his potential. Basil is a sensitive boy who loves to please people, he tries so very hard to be a good boy but sometimes his excitement can get the better of him and he certainly does have his share of crazy moments! We are currently working hard on keeping all four feet on the floor and improving his on lead skills. Because of Basil’s bouncy and boisterous nature (with the odd nip and teeth chatter thrown in for good measure) we would be looking for a home without young children for him, he could be rehomed with older teenagers 16+ who could help with his training and socialisation.
Basil is super friendly when meeting strangers and will sit by their feet nicely for fusses, he is also a very good boy at the vets. He walks well on lead once he has settled and passes vehicles, people and other dogs without issue with correct handling. Basil does enjoy being around other dogs and is still learning appropriate behaviours, we feel he would best suit a home with an older tolerant female dog.
It is important to note that baby Basil has only ever been inside a home a handful of times and new owners will need to start from scratch with him. He is not housetrained and will need a secure ‘Basil proof’ area whilst he gets accustomed to being indoors, our onsite behaviourist is available to work with potential owners as the adjustment period can be a challenging time. Basil will need a high fenced secure garden to explore and plenty of daily exercise.
Basil is not a dog for first time owners, he requires people with experience, patience and plenty of time to commit to him but he has such a huge amount of potential and a fantastic nature, it is a shame to see him still waiting for the right people to come along. We hope he doesn’t have to wait too much longer and can finally start living his life away from the confines of a kennel. Basil certainly is a very special boy.
