About Robin

Robin is a very sweet, scared boy that arrived as a stray. He sadly arrived terrified and shut down. It has taken a little while for staff to build trust with him but he's now out and about and enjoying his walks. Robin has been incredibly tolerant with new things and has allowed us to touch him as needed - to pick him up and put a lead on him. But he does still freeze during these interactions as he is still very afraid, any new owners will need to start with a hand-off approach until he is more densensitise to being handled. He is becoming more settled with staff now, and definitely has his favourite staff members who is happy to see. He enjoys his food and treats and has started greeting us at his kennel door in case we've got something to eat. Robin is looking for a calm and patient home where he can settle and build confidence in his own time. Potential owners should be aware that it's likely going to take a long time for him to fully come out of his shell and not force interactions or affection onto him (no matter how cute he is!). We can advise anyone interested in him on slow introductions / handling etc. He is a very timid boy who will hopefully settle with the right home, where respect is shown for his own space, and hopefully become a happy and friendly boy. Robin has met dogs out and about and does appear to enjoy their company but we have not been able to fully test this due to how shut down he is. He could potentially live with another calm dog, that can help to build his confidence but not overwhelm him. We would need to do a couple of mixes here at the rescue to make sure the dogs are compatible. Alternatively he could go as the only dog, but it is important he gets plenty of socialisation when he is ready. As he is still quite shut down here at the rescue, it will take a while for him to settle with new people in a new home so this may be a long process to build up his confidence and trust. Anyone interested in him will have to come up to the rescue to meet Robin over several visits so that he can get familiar with them. We do not know what he is like with cats. He can live with children 14+ that can respect his space and not push him while he is settling. Ideally he is looking for a calm, quiet home to settle into home comforts. We know he is a very handsome boy and think he will be popular but please only apply if you meet the requirements and include as much information so we can find him the most suitable home.
