About Tobi

A little bit about Tobi: Tobi is a typical one year old cocker. He is full of life and is cheekier than a bag of monkeys. He likes nothing better than to follow you around the house willing you to be careless and leave something within his reach. Everything is game for this fly boy: hairbrushes, dish cloths, socks, loo roll to name but a few items of his desire. The game continues when you try to retrieve said items. Tobi is an absolute cuddle monster and loves to snuggle up to you any chance he can get. He would have you rub his belly for hours on end if he had his way. More about Tobi: Tobi is fully house trained and takes himself out to the garden for his business no problem. He has never been left alone for long in his foster home, but his previous owners informed us that he was occasionally settled in his crate for short periods with no problems at all. He settles well in his crate after his walks and we take ourselves out of the room to give him some calm down time with our two dogs and this has worked really well when he gets over stimulated. Tobi sleeps well at night, sleeping on his bed next to ours all night. He will let you know its 7am and not a minute later. Its breakfast time in Tobi’s world and is sitting on your head in case it has slipped your mind. Once he has had his breakfast and done his business its back to bed for this lazy boy. He can stay there until 11am given the chance. Tobi is out and about for a couple of hours each morning along with our two dogs on woodland and riverside adventures. He walks well on an 8-metre extension lead and loves to explore every nook and cranny with his forever twitching nose. He loves the water and will happily retrieve thrown sticks and balls all day. On visits to the dog park, we have found his recall to be good if a treat is on offer. He will sit and give you a paw on command. He has a remarkable ability to sense when it’s home time and keeps well away from you as fun time is over when Tobi decides it’s over. High level treats such as smoked salmon and cream cheese canapes have no impact, and it turns into a game of ring a ring of roses around the dog park. Much to the amusement of the other park users. Tobi is currently in foster with two other spaniels and has settled in well with them. He was a little full on with them when he first arrived, getting constantly in their face but that didn't last long as he was duly advised on the rules and regulations and expected behaviour within the pack. He now interacts and plays with them with no issues and are now great pals. Tobi shows a great deal of interest in various livestock and would just love to be in a field full of sheep. Horses and cows also grab his attention, and he can get very excited. He has a strong prey drive and can get halfway up a tree in pursuit of a squirrel. He hasn't been around young children when in foster but has a tendency to jump up and put paws on adults while out walking. This is being worked on by his fosterers and is gradually improving his manners. Visiting the vet: Tobi has had his routine health-check and is fit and healthy. His vaccinations are up to date. He will be rehomed with a neutering contract. Behavioural issues: Tobi is a bit of a thief, grabbing things for attention. Some guarding displayed. Home needs: Tobi would benefit from an active home life with activities and adventures. His adopters will need to commit to his ongoing training. A calm and quiet home would be preferable as he settles well after a long walk. He is used to having a secure garden to potter and play in. He could be rehomed as an only dog or with another dog equally well but is untested with cats so caution would be advised on that front. Older children only due to being boisterous. Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.
