A Cockapoo is a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle, as Dogs Trust puts it, not a breed. It isn't on The Royal Kennel Club's Breeds A to Z, so there is no breed standard and no breed page setting out its size or temperament. The Royal Kennel Club's guide to crossbreeds calls these "designer dogs" and says crossbreeds often have a mix of their parents' traits, and that it is often "difficult to predict what the puppies will look like or what their temperament will be". Any one Cockapoo can take after the Cocker, the Poodle, or both.
As of 7 November 2026, 4 Cockapoos are listed with rescues in and around Carmarthenshire on LocalPetFinder: by their listed age, 1 puppy aged 12 months or under, 2 adults and 1 aged 7 or over.
The rescues mark 3 as able to live with children and 4 with other dogs. Where a profile says nothing, it doesn't mean no: ask the rescue.

No. A Cockapoo is a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle, according to Dogs Trust, and it is not on The Royal Kennel Club's Breeds A to Z, so it has no breed standard. The Royal Kennel Club says crossbreeds often mix their parents' traits, so size, coat and temperament vary from dog to dog.
No. Battersea says Cockapoos are "not hypoallergenic as coat type varies a lot and no dog is fully allergy-friendly". Doodle Trust says a puppy coat can change in adulthood. If someone at home has allergies, ask the rescue whether you can spend time with the adult dog first.
It depends on the dog, not the breed. Today the rescues mark 3 of the 4 Cockapoos listed in and around Carmarthenshire as able to live with children. Where a profile says nothing, ask the rescue what age of children the dog could live with.
