About Nelson

Weighing in at over 35kg, Nelson is a rather large lad with an equally big personality! Once Nelson gets to know you and builds a bond, his wonderful personality really starts to shine. He absolutely loves playing with soft toys and extra-large tennis balls, especially when he has someone to join in! He's also quite happy entertaining himself, and we often hear him having his own little play sessions in his kennel! Nelson doesn’t always find the world easy to navigate and can be fearful of the day-today-life which can lead to him being reactive to some dogs and people. We're therefore looking for experienced, confident owners who can offer him with patience, consistency and understanding. Nelson is looking for an adult-only home, and his new pawrents will need to be committed to making several visits to Lincoln Farm to build a relationship with him. This would include off-site walks alongside a member of our senior team, to help his new owners understand how to navigate different situations with him. Despite his worries around other dogs, Nelson has made some lovely canine friendships and has even enjoyed off-lead playtime with one of our playful girls! We feel he could potentially live with a calm, confident, medium-to-large female dog, following successful introductions. However, he wouldn't be suitable for a home with cats or other small furry animals. Nelson currently wears a muzzle when out on walks and uses a headcollar to make walks more comfortable for everyone including him. His new owners will need to continue his positive muzzle training and work on his lead manners. With his dense wavy fur regular grooming is going to be very important for Nelson, but this is something he isn’t too keen on currently so we will require patience on behalf of his new owners. He is however used to clippers which we have found to be very helpful. Nelson may need a little extra time and understanding, but for someone willing to put in the effort, there's a wonderful companion waiting to be discovered. Could you be the one to give our big, curly-haired Nelson the loving home he deserves?
