What Huskies are like to live with
The Royal Kennel Club calls the Siberian Husky "the lightest and fastest of the sled dogs". It says the breed comes from the north-east of Siberia, where it pulled sleds over long distances and lived alongside families, who bred it for working ability and temperament. The breed standard describes a dog that is "friendly and gentle, alert and outgoing" and "does not display traits of the guard dog".

Where can I adopt a Husky in Mid Sussex?
With the rescue that has the dog. Today the Huskies on this page are with Rescue Remedies (2), Last Chance Animal Rescue (1) and Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare (1). Open a profile and apply to that rescue: each one runs its own application, home check and adoption fee. We don't rehome animals ourselves.
How much exercise does a Husky need?
More than two hours a day, according to The Royal Kennel Club, and a minimum of two hours according to PDSA. The Royal Kennel Club lists the Siberian Husky as suited to a large house with a large garden, in the country. Ask the rescue how much this dog needs, as age and health make a difference.
Can a Husky live in a flat?
It is rarely a good fit. Battersea says Huskies "aren't usually suited to flats" and need access to a secure outdoor space, and The Royal Kennel Club suggests a large house with a large garden. The rescue can tell you what this dog is used to.
Are Huskies good with children?
It depends on the dog, not the breed. Most of the 4 Huskies listed in and around Mid Sussex today don't say either way, so ask the rescue. Where a profile says nothing, ask the rescue what age of children the dog could live with.
How much does it cost to adopt a Husky in Mid Sussex?
The Huskies listed in and around Mid Sussex today are with Rescue Remedies at Smallfield, about 15 miles away (2), Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare at Ringmer, about 9 miles away (1) and Last Chance Animal Rescue at Edenbridge, about 19 miles away (1); each profile shows that rescue's fee. Each rescue sets its own adoption fee. Dogs Trust charges £300 for a puppy or adult dog in England, Wales and Scotland, and Blue Cross fees start from £235 for dogs aged 8 or over and £335 for dogs aged 1 to 7. The fee usually covers neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations, and each rescue confirms its own fee.
Are there Husky puppies for sale in Mid Sussex?
No. We don't list animals for sale. Every Husky on this page is with a rescue or rehoming centre. The 4 Huskies listed in and around Mid Sussex today are with Rescue Remedies at Smallfield, about 15 miles away (2), Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare at Ringmer, about 9 miles away (1) and Last Chance Animal Rescue at Edenbridge, about 19 miles away (1), and each rescue shows its own fee on the profile. For comparison, Dogs Trust £300, and Blue Cross puppies under six months start from £525. If you searched "husky puppies for sale Mid Sussex", the Huskies here are the rescue route: you apply to the rescue and pay its adoption fee, not a sale price. In England, Lucy's Law has meant since 6 April 2020 that puppies under six months can't be sold by a third party such as a pet shop or dealer: you buy direct from the breeder or adopt from a rehoming centre.
Can I get a free Husky to a good home in Mid Sussex, or one under £500?
Usually not. UK rescues normally ask for an adoption fee, which pays towards neutering, microchipping and vaccinations. Of the 4 Huskies listed in and around Mid Sussex today, each shows its rescue's fee on the profile; the nearest rescue is Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare at Ringmer, about 9 miles away. Many rescue fees are under £500: Dogs Trust charges £300, and Blue Cross from £235 for dogs aged 8 or over. An animal offered "free to a good home" is usually a private advert rather than a rescue. All dogs in the UK must be microchipped by 8 weeks old, and in England, Wales and Scotland a dog can't pass to a new keeper until it is chipped, so ask to see the microchip details.
