What Huskies are like to live with
The Royal Kennel Club calls the Siberian Husky "the lightest and fastest of the sled dogs". It says the breed comes from the north-east of Siberia, where it pulled sleds over long distances and lived alongside families, who bred it for working ability and temperament.
That is the breed in general. A rescue Husky is an individual, and many are crosses. The rescue knows how this dog behaves at home, on the lead and with visitors, so ask them. Alaskan Malamutes have their own page.
Size and exercise
The Royal Kennel Club lists the Siberian Husky as needing more than two hours of exercise a day. It says the breed suits a large house with a large garden, and lists it as a country dog rather than one for town.

The coat is short but sheds, and The Royal Kennel Club lists grooming as more than once a week.
Health
The Royal Kennel Club asks Siberian Husky breeders to have eyes tested (including gonioscopy) and hips scored. It lists the lifespan as over 10 years.
A rescue dog's parents were rarely health tested, so ask the rescue what vet checks the dog has had and whether any condition is known. Your own vet is the right person to advise on anything you notice later.
