About King

King could live with children aged 13+. He could potentially live with another well-matched dog, but no cats or small animals. King is a lovely young boy who is full of energy! He shows both Collie and Staffie traits, so requires an experienced owner who has plenty of time to dedicate to his training. He needs an active family who can keep up with his physical needs, but also provide him with plenty of mental stimulation – this intelligent boy is so switched on and needs to keep his brain busy! King sadly seems to have missed out on some of the early training and socialisation he should’ve had. He can be frustrated around other dogs and is still working on his excitable puppy behaviours. He is still very young and so it is essential that his new family are able to put solid foundations in place for progressing his training and socialisation, so he can develop into a confident, healthy and well-rounded adult dog. King has struggled when going back into a kennel after his walks and this may translate to separation anxiety in the home. He will need a family who are around a lot of the time and who are able to work on slowly building up any time that he is left alone, so that he is able to overcome this. It is such a shame that King has already ended up in the shelter at such a young age. We know that, for the right family, he will be an absolute pleasure to get to watch learn, grow and become the fantastic dog he has the potential to be. We have no doubt he will require time, patience and consistency when he first goes home – as all young, energetic dogs do – but he so deserves to find his forever family who can turn what may be ‘too much’ for others, into a lifetime of adventures shared together, where King can forget all about his tough start to life.
