About Bruno

Bruno has arrived for rehoming 17th October. Unfortunately Bruno has come back to us after almost four months in a home due to how strong he is on walks. Bruno is an American bulldog. This means he is bigger than a staffie at 28 kilos, and has a very playful, loving personality, very much like a big puppy. Bruno is now 3 years of age. The sort of home for Bruno No dogs currently in the home No cats in the home No children under the age of 12 years Access to his own private and secure garden (not shared or communal) No cages/crates in the home Access to the sofa for cuddles Can be left for 2 hours at a time Quiet area, edge of town home (see below for more information) Handling A big, happy, friendly dog, that is not afraid to shower you with love, and give you cuddles. He is a bigger dog, so he might be a bit big for some people. He is also strong which should be considered when walking him. Not an ounce of aggression or dominance in him, he just wants to play, have fusses and cuddles and lots of love. Easy for us to fit with a collar and one of our temporary harnesses. He is great meeting new people, no fear or aggression, just wants a fuss and to share the big love. Walks Bruno is a strong dog, and wants to meet every dog he sees. This means while he is not aggressive, he gets too excited when he sees a dog and will pull/lunge and may squeal loudly. He is a strong dog, and any handler would need to be able to handle him. He has had meets with other dogs previously that have been uneventful (see previous owner’s information below), but he still gets very excited when he sees them. This is the main reason why he would suit living in a quiet area, out of town, or on the edge of town where walks can be done in fields, etc. rather than around busier roads, streets, and where avoiding or introducing to dogs may be easier to manage. Play A very playful dog, and a big puppy of a dog, that will play with anything. No dominance or possessiveness at all in his play with us. We are able to take toys from him without issue. He is of course strong during play. Health Bruno is allergic to white meat, and this will result skin flare ups if he eats chicken, turkey, etc. This has been easily managed in his last home by feeding him Jollyes Pets Lifestage grain free salmon & trout dog food. He must continue this food as it works for him. He can eat lots of things such as fish, beef, rabbit, but must avoid chicken, turkey, etc. He is fully vaccinated until May 2027. In the vets he has been very well behaved most of the time, even when dogs have been in there, perhaps because he is closer to them. Dogs that are further away he may scream/squeal at. He is already microchipped. He will be neutered when he has fully settled in his new home. The previous owner provided some further information House trained, though overnight he may have an occasionally accident Used to sleeping on the owner’s bed Has the run of the house when left, but not normally left more than two hours. Pulls on the lead and is strong. He has met dogs on walks by accident – two off the lead Jack Russells came yapping at him, circling him, and there was no bad reaction from Bruno. Similarly he met a relative’s staffie nose to nose, then the staffie barked, and Bruno barked in reply. He seems to be worse with dogs he cannot go and meet, and this is where his strength really shows as he pulls and bounces towards them. Never lived with a cat. Has been around children aged 15 years and above, but never lived with them. Never shown aggression. Never shown dominance. Favourite things include the sofa, sleeping on owners’ bed. Intolerant or allergic to chicken (his skin will flare up).
