About Pongo

“I am emailing from East Devon District Council concerning an abandoned dog we have at one of our veterinary practices in our district. She is a 12 month old female Belgium Malinois named Pongo. Unfortunately she has been abandoned and shows signs of aggression towards males where the vets think she has been previously man handled and mis treated. Pongo has become extremely stressed and nervous from being abandoned and being at the vets the past few days which could be the result of her aggression. I am emailing to see if you have someone available to take her and give her the love, attention and training she needs.” Pongo was taken in by someone who assessed her potentially to be a working dog but unfortunately she was going to need a lot of work. However, no aggression shown towards men since so purely displays of nervous aggression. Pongo is a spayed female Mali, born January 25. She’s bright, energetic, and loves long walks, a good run, and having a job to do—especially one that puts her clever brain to work. She knows her basic commands and recently tried scent work in the barn. After just a few short sessions, she’d figured out how to search for her ball and absolutely excelled! Pongo could live with older children. With careful introductions, she may also be able to live with another dog—ideally a calm, confident male. Pongo is looking for an active home that can keep up with her lifestyle and enjoy training and activities together, such as scent work, mantrailing, and plenty of other fun adventures.
