Rescue ginger cats for adoption and rehoming in and around Angus

As of 8 November 2026, no ginger cats are listed for adoption in and around Angus on LocalPetFinder. Rescues add animals all the time, so this page fills as they list them.

No. Cats Protection says roughly two thirds of ginger cats are male and a third are female. The rescue's profile will say whether a particular ginger cat is male or female.

Because the ginger gene is on the X chromosome. Cats Protection says a male cat, with one X chromosome, needs only one copy of the gene mutation to be ginger, while a female, with two X chromosomes, needs it on both, which is less likely.

Each rescue sets its own adoption fee, and Cats Protection says you can expect to pay £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten, varying between its branches. The fee usually covers neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations, and each rescue confirms its own fee.

No. We don't list animals for sale. Every ginger cat on this page is with a rescue or rehoming centre. Rescues rehome animals rather than selling them, usually for an adoption fee: for example, Cats Protection says £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten. The fee usually goes towards vet work already done, such as neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations. If you searched "ginger kittens for sale Angus", the ginger cats here are the rescue route: you apply to the rescue and pay its adoption fee, not a sale price. In Scotland, Lucy's Law has banned the third-party sale of kittens under six months since 1 September 2021.

Usually not. UK rescues normally ask for an adoption fee, which pays towards neutering, microchipping and vaccinations. At the large cat charities, fees for one cat are under £200: Cats Protection says £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten. An animal offered "free to a good home" is usually a private advert rather than a rescue.
