About Amber

Sweetheart Amber has come to us through no fault of her own. She is used to being in a home and has been well loved. She is desperately missing her home comforts and would love to get back to a life with a family to make her feel safe again. Amber is looking for an adult-only home with a quiet, consistent, and easy routine. She can be a worrier and finds life makes more sense when she knows what is expected of her, and we really see her confidence grow when she’s settled into a routine. Amber would prefer her household to have fewer visitors and would benefit from having a ‘safe’ area in the home to take herself off to if she feels overwhelmed. She will need an enclosed garden, preferably with room for a little play. Although Amber does have some social skills, she is looking for a home as the only pet with the opportunity to walk with some doggy friends once settled. Amber has managed some nice walks and mixes with dogs here at the center, and in her previous home had been able to go on group walks, but generally would rather not have to share her home and humans. Amber loves being out for her walks and is mostly well-mannered on the lead. She can sometimes start out a little enthusiastically but settles down quite quickly. Amber can be unsure around traffic, so we think she would be happier having the opportunity to be walked in more rural areas with lots to sniff. Due to her nervous nature, Amber will need to be kept on a lead when out and about and will also comfortably wear a muzzle while in public areas. Although initially unsure of new people, once Amber knows you, she is a real fuss – pot and loves being snuggled on the sofa with you. She is generally well-mannered and is an ‘easy’ dog to spend time with. She is happy to show off her basic obedience for bits of ham and cheese and will enthusiastically chase a toy with very little intent on bringing it back to you. Amber really is a special girl whose world has been tipped upside down. All she really wants is to feel safe again, and we can’t wait to see her settled in her new forever home.
