About Bertie
πΎ Meet Bertie β Our Clever, Adventure-Loving Spaniel! π
If you're looking for a clever, affectionate, fun-loving companion who enjoys getting out and about, meet Bertie!
This gorgeous Spaniel is full of enthusiasm for life. Whether he's exploring the countryside, splashing around in the water or joining our pack walks, Bertie is always up for an adventure. And when the fun is over, he's more than happy to enjoy some affection with his favourite people!
π His Personality
Bertie is an absolute delight! He's bright, playful, incredibly intelligent and loves being involved in whatever you're doing.
He enjoys his toys, loves a good game and is wonderfully eager to please. He's also a very obedient boy with great recall, although he can pull a little on the lead when excitement gets the better of him!
With us at the kennels, Bertie is an absolute star. He's easygoing, affectionate and so lovely to handle that he's one of the dogs we're happy for our volunteers to take out. He's a real pleasure to spend time with!
Bertie does have a sensitive side, and while he's wonderfully relaxed in our care, adjusting to a home environment can initially feel a little overwhelming for him. He can become protective of toys or objects he finds particularly valuable, so he'll benefit from people who understand that settling in takes time and who are happy to continue his progress with kindness, consistency and positive training.
Most of all, Bertie is a loving, engaging dog who has so much fun and affection to share.
π With Other Dogs
Bertie happily joins our pack walks and generally gets along well with other dogs, although he doesn't necessarily want to be friends with everyone!
If something makes him uncomfortable, he may occasionally give a quiet grumble under his breath, simply his way of asking for a little space.
He can also become protective of things he's found or particularly values, especially around other dogs, so his future family will need to be mindful of this during walks and interactions.
With sensible handling and people who understand his little signals, Bertie can continue enjoying all the lovely outdoor adventures he adores.
πΏ His Ideal Home
Bertie is looking for an active, affectionate and experienced home where he'll be a much-loved member of the family, joining in on adventures, enjoying plenty of companionship and making the most of life!
While Bertie is wonderfully easygoing with us, moving into a home can initially feel a little overwhelming for him. We'd love to find people who understand sensitive dogs and can give him the time and reassurance he needs to settle.
His ideal home would offer:
- π‘ An adult-only household, with no resident or visiting children and no plans to have children in the future
- An active, outdoorsy lifestyle with lots of walks, adventures and opportunities to swim
- Affectionate people who want
their dog to be a real part of the family
- Experienced, confident owners who understand sensitive dogs
- A calm, relaxed approach to any challenges that may arise during the settling-in period
- β€οΈ Plenty of companionship, games, affection and fun
- A willingness to continue Bertie's training and progress with kindness and consistency
- People who understand that building confidence and settling into a new environment takes time
Above all, we're looking for people who are naturally calm and comfortable around dogs, who won't become anxious if Bertie has a moment of uncertainty and who can help him feel safe and secure as he finds his feet.
**Bertie has so much love, fun and adventure to offer, and we'd love to see him enjoying every bit of it with a family who absolutely adores him!** ππΎ
