About Maggie

A little bit about Maggie: Maggie is a delightful older lady and will make someone a wonderful companion. She loves her walks, enjoys a good sniff, and then settles quite happily at home. She is very good with other dogs. She has been in a foster home with other Cocker Spaniels and was particularly close to one of them. More about Maggie: Maggie is very biddable on the lead; she now walks well with very little pulling, using a slip lead. She walks to heel and sits down when you stop. She will also walk to heel when she is off lead. Her recall is generally good. She will sometimes run ahead but always looks back to check you are there. She can walk 5-10 miles each day split between 2 walks. Maggie sleeps all night in her own bed. She enjoys her food and loves a healthy treat. She has lost some weight since being in foster, as a result of regular exercise, and is now looking very beautiful after a trip to the groomer. Visiting the vet: Maggie has had a full health check and has some age-related issues with her teeth and mammary area. She will be adopted with what we call a supported adoption, please see ongoing support section for more information. She was well behaved in the veterinary surgery, and overall, the vet was pleased with her. She is quite fit for her age. Behavioural issues: No behavioural issues noted. She is a lovely dog. Home needs: Maggie would like a reasonably active home with someone around most of the time. She would be fine with another friendly similar dog, but equally may prefer to be the only dog lapping up all the attention. A secure garden to potter in would be ideal, and interesting daily walks would be good. We don’t believe Maggie has lived with children so older children who would be gentle with her would be an option. No cats. Ongoing support: Maggie will be rehomed on a supported adoption agreement which means that Springer Rescue for Scotland will fund either partially or wholly all essential medical expenses related to the matters raised during her health check.
