About Bailey

Bailey is a 6 year old Cocker Spaniel who has come into our care from a home environment. He is a very sweet boy who had a difficult start during his early development. As a puppy, Bailey’s key learning period coincided with lockdown, and he understandably found it hard to adjust when the world suddenly became much busier. As a result, he can feel worried in social situations with unfamiliar people and some dogs. Bailey also shows some resource guarding behaviours, which can be common in the breed. Prior to coming into our care, he completed residential behaviour work, and we have a wonderful report highlighting what a good boy he is and how well he responds when given the right structure and understanding. Bailey has previously struggled in situations where his space hasn’t been respected and has nipped when he’s felt overwhelmed or frustrated. Excessive handling can also cause him to become stressed if he’s not given the opportunity to move away when he’s had enough. Full details of these incidents will be shared with suitable applicants. While he is a loving and affectionate dog, he is also sensitive and sometimes prefers his own space and independence. He needs time to build trust and a bond with his person, but once that connection is there, he truly shines. We are looking for a pet free and child free home for Bailey, ideally with someone who has experience with spaniels and/or resource guarding behaviours. An understanding, patient owner who can read his body language and advocate for him when he’s feeling unsure will be key to helping him thrive. With the right guidance and management, Bailey is a wonderful companion who deserves a home where he feels safe, respected, and understood. No: No Children. No: No Other Pets.
