The Sphynx is a hairless cat, though its body is covered in a fine down. The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF), which registers pedigree cats in the UK, describes the breed as "affectionate, sociable and intelligent" and says Sphynx are very much people cats that hate being alone. It also calls them vocal, "almost to the point where you find yourselves having a two-way conversation".

Yes, they need regular washing. The GCCF rates the Sphynx high maintenance, including regular bathing, because oils build up on the bare skin. Cats Protection says a vet can advise how often, as overbathing dries the skin. Ask the rescue what routine this cat is used to.
Only with care. The GCCF says Sphynx are indoor cats because they burn easily in the sun, and can go out under supervision in good weather, ideally on a harness or in an enclosed garden or run.
It depends on the cat, not the breed. Today the rescues mark 1 of the 1 Sphynx listed in Merseyside as able to live with children. Where a profile says nothing, ask the rescue what age of children the cat could live with.
