What Sphynx cats are like to live with
The Sphynx is a hairless cat, though its body is covered in a fine down. The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF), which registers pedigree cats in the UK, describes the breed as "affectionate, sociable and intelligent" and says Sphynx are very much people cats that hate being alone. It also calls them vocal, "almost to the point where you find yourselves having a two-way conversation".

How many rescue Sphynx cats are available for adoption in Lancashire?
As of 8 November 2026, no Sphynx cats are listed for adoption in Lancashire on LocalPetFinder. There is 1 Sphynx with rescues within 25 miles, shown under "Also near Lancashire". Rescues add animals all the time, so this page fills as they list them.
Do Sphynx cats need baths?
Yes, they need regular washing. The GCCF rates the Sphynx high maintenance, including regular bathing, because oils build up on the bare skin. Cats Protection says a vet can advise how often, as overbathing dries the skin. Ask the rescue what routine this cat is used to.
Can Sphynx cats go outside?
Only with care. The GCCF says Sphynx are indoor cats because they burn easily in the sun, and can go out under supervision in good weather, ideally on a harness or in an enclosed garden or run.
How much does it cost to adopt a Sphynx in Lancashire?
Each rescue sets its own adoption fee. Cats Protection says you can expect to pay £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten, varying between its branches, and Blue Cross fees start from £150 for cats aged 4 months to 7 years. The fee usually covers neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations, and each rescue confirms its own fee.
Are there Sphynx kittens for sale in Lancashire?
No. We don't list animals for sale. Every Sphynx on this page is with a rescue or rehoming centre. Rescues rehome animals rather than selling them, usually for an adoption fee: for example, Cats Protection says £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten. The fee usually goes towards vet work already done, such as neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations. If you searched "sphynx kittens for sale Lancashire", the Sphynx cats here are the rescue route: you apply to the rescue and pay its adoption fee, not a sale price. In England, Lucy's Law has meant since 6 April 2020 that kittens under six months can't be sold by a third party such as a pet shop or dealer: you buy direct from the breeder or adopt from a rehoming centre.
Can I get a free Sphynx to a good home in Lancashire, or one under £100?
Usually not. UK rescues normally ask for an adoption fee, which pays towards neutering, microchipping and vaccinations. At the large cat charities, fees for one cat are under £200: Cats Protection says £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten, and Blue Cross fees start from £150 for cats aged 4 months to 7 years. An animal offered "free to a good home" is usually a private advert rather than a rescue. In England, cats must be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old, so ask to see the microchip details.
Are there Sphynx kittens for adoption in Lancashire?
Not right now: no Sphynx cats are listed in Lancashire today, so there are no kittens either. See "Also near Lancashire" for Sphynx cats with rescues nearby. Kittens do get listed, and rescues can tell you much more about an adult's character, so check back.
