About cat adoption in East Lothian
This page covers the East Lothian council area. It brings together the 1 cat listed on LocalPetFinder in East Lothian and within about 25 miles of it, none of them in East Lothian itself yet, from 1 rescue. Each card shows the town the animal is in and how far that is from the centre of East Lothian, in a straight line.
Every profile links to the rescue that has the animal, and you apply with them directly: the rescue runs its own process and tells you its adoption fee. Listings are updated regularly, so it is worth checking back.

Are there cat rescues in East Lothian?
Right now 1 rescue lists 1 cat on LocalPetFinder in East Lothian or within about 25 miles of it. We only show rescues whose animals we list, so there may be others nearby.
How does adopting a cat near East Lothian work?
Pick a cat on this page and apply with the rescue named on its profile. LocalPetFinder is not a rescue: each rescue runs its own adoption process, which can include meeting the cat and a home check, and sets its own fee. If the rescue is a drive away, expect to make the trip at least once.
Can I rehome my cat in East Lothian?
Yes. Owners anywhere in Scotland can list a dog, cat or rabbit on LocalPetFinder for free. Enter your postcode and a listing from East Lothian appears on this page once we have checked it. Your pet stays with you until you choose an adopter. Start here.

Is LocalPetFinder the same as Petfinder?
No. LocalPetFinder is an independent UK website and is not connected with Petfinder. We bring together dogs, cats and rabbits from UK rescues and rehoming centres, and every profile links to the rescue that cares for the animal, so you apply with them directly.
How is LocalPetFinder different from Pets4Homes?
Pets4Homes describes itself as the UK’s largest online pet marketplace, connecting buyers with breeders as well as shelters and charities. LocalPetFinder is for adoption: our listings come from rescues and rehoming centres and from owners rehoming their own pet, each checked by a reviewer before it goes live. We do not take adverts from breeders.
Can I find Scottish SPCA animals on LocalPetFinder?
No. We do not list the Scottish SPCA’s animals, at any of its rescue and rehoming centres. The Scottish SPCA, Scotland’s animal welfare charity, runs its own search: use Scottish SPCA Find a Pet to see the animals at its centres across Scotland. The RSPCA works in England and Wales, not Scotland.
