On 5 November 2026 Rhodes Minnis Cat Sanctuary, south of Canterbury, showed more cats on its own page than any other rescue we list near the city. It has cared for cats since 1970, lets you call in any day without booking, and its cats join this page as it goes live.
TAG Pet Rescue keeps cats at a sanctuary near Margate, about 15 miles away, closed to drop-in visitors; Rolvenden Cat Rescue, on the 25-mile edge near Cranbrook, and Last Chance's New Romney centre, about 21 miles south, see adopters by appointment or in opening hours. You apply to the rescue holding the cat.
Rhodes Minnis Cat Sanctuary asks £80 for an adult cat and £100 for a kitten. TAG Pet Rescue charges £90 for a cat or £170 for a pair, with neutering, a microchip and vaccinations included; a kitten too young to be neutered is done later at its vet for a £50 donation. Rolvenden Cat Rescue and Last Chance publish no fee, so ask.
Each rescue sets its own adoption fee. Battersea charges £100 for a cat over six months and £130 for a kitten, Cats Protection says you can expect to pay £80 to £120 on average for an adult cat and £100 to £120 for a kitten, varying between its branches, and Blue Cross fees start from £150 for cats aged 4 months to 7 years. The fee usually covers neutering, microchipping and first vaccinations, and each rescue confirms its own fee.
Expect a form first and, at TAG and Last Chance, a visit to your home:
Rhodes Minnis Cat Sanctuary is open every day from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm; no appointment is needed, but it suggests phoning first to check a cat is still there. Its page shows only some of the cats in its care.
Kittens go quickly at Rolvenden, which keeps them until 12 to 14 weeks and prefers to home them in pairs.
England now requires pet cats to be microchipped, so a vet can scan a friendly stray for an owner before you assume it has none. Rolvenden Cat Rescue said on 5 November 2026 that it was full and could take in no more cats.
Our cat rescues guide for Canterbury and Kent compares the rescues, and our rescue kittens guide answers "kittens for sale" searches. See the kittens, bonded pairs and older cats pages for today's list.

No. LocalPetFinder is an independent UK website and is not connected with Petfinder. We bring together dogs, cats and rabbits from UK rescues and rehoming centres, and every profile links to the rescue that cares for the animal, so you apply with them directly.
Pets4Homes describes itself as the UK’s largest online pet marketplace, connecting buyers with breeders as well as shelters and charities. LocalPetFinder is for adoption: our listings come from rescues and rehoming centres and from owners rehoming their own pet, each checked by a reviewer before it goes live. We do not take adverts from breeders.
No. We do not list the RSPCA’s animals, at its national centres or its branches. To see them, use RSPCA Find a Pet, the RSPCA’s own search for animals in its centres and branches across England and Wales.
