About Coco

“She’s a big dog who lights up a room” is how Coco’s volunteer dog walker has described her. When she arrived here back in February, due to her owner’s ill health, Coco, 9, weighed just short of 50kgs, having not had much exercise. We steadily increased her daily walks and reduced her meals, and by the end of the summer Coco had lost nearly a third of her body weight, slimming down to 35kgs. Being able to go out on lots of lovely adventures has helped with her dog reactivity out and about. She’ll now walk with dogs she knows now and, with ongoing socialisation and training, her reactivity has reduced. “She’s a different dog to when she first came in,” her dog walker said. “If you check her and speak to her when she sees a dog, she listens and responds. For someone who wants to go out and enjoy walks and adventures, she’d be a great companion. It is like she appreciates every bit of her walk.” Coco is a friendly girl who loves people and to learn new tricks. Due to her size, she’ll need a strong owner and to be muzzled on walks, which she’s happy with. She is looking for an adult-only home with no other pets.
