About Conker
Little Conker has sadly had a traumatic time before coming to Foal Farm, his unstable start in life has had an impact on him and who could blame him.
This little lad is a sensitive boy and when he is feeling worried, in true Daxi style, he is very vocal. Since Conker’s arrival he has taken to the ladies very quickly and it isn’t long until he is climbing all over you giving you kisses. He is comical and we say he likes to identify as a neck scarf, he wants to be as close as possible! He is more worried by men and this is a work in progress to make him more comfortable.
Conker enjoys his walks and typical to his breed, having a good sniff around is his favourite thing to do. He can be a little unsure of some dogs and doesn’t seem to know how to interact however once he’s given some time to get used to them, he has been really good with them. There may be the odd dog and also person he barks at on a walk, so he will need an adopter who is committed to helping his reactivity.
Conker has shown that he will resource guard, particularly toys and high value chews. We have started training with Conker and he has already proven to be a clever boy. This little lad is adorable but he does need a committed adopter, experience with resource guarding would be ideal however Foal will support any adopters who are willing to commit to Conker.
We are seeking an adult only home for Conker, he may be a little project dog but we feel once he finally has a stable home where people are going to be kind to him, he will settle down. Ongoing training and confidence building is essential as well as boundaries, he needs to understand that his human has his back and will protect him. We would consider homes where there is another dog, adopters would need to implement management within the home due to Conker’s tendency to guard.
Conker has so much love to give and his family will be very lucky to have a loyal boy by their side.
