Louise

I need a calm and quiet, adult only home with experienced adopters. I will need a kind resident dog to take me under their wing. I have never met cats. I would like a secure garden to spend time in. I am not ready to learn about lead walking yet. A garden is fine for now. I have never lived in a home so I will need help to learn house training. I am spayed and ready to find my forever home. Louise has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a very special forever home. She is an extremely worried little girl who has had very little positive human socialisation and can still find people and handling very frightening. However, she has made lovely progress since arriving and is showing us more of her cheeky personality every day. Over the past month, Louise has grown in confidence. While she is still very worried about being touched and picked up, she is no longer as shut down as she was when she first arrived. She is now more than happy to come over for treats and will sit close by while waiting for more. She likes to use her voice to let everyone know how she is feeling, is very partial to chasing flies, and has quite a big personality packed into such a tiny dog. It is wonderful to see her becoming more comfortable in her surroundings. Louise will need a calm and quiet adult-only home with no visiting children, and adopters who have experience helping fearful ex-breeding dogs learn to trust. She relies heavily on the comfort and reassurance of other dogs and will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her as she settles into family life. Louise can be vocal around food and may give a warning growl, but she does not actually do anything and this appears to simply be her way of communicating that she would like some space. She can happily be fed alongside her canine friends as long as each dog has their own bowl and they stick to their own food. She is also absolutely fine taking treats, so this is something her adopters should continue to manage calmly and sensibly. Louise is slowly becoming more comfortable with being handled, and gentle work has begun to help her get used to being picked up. This is still very worrying for her and she can become wriggly and panic when lifted, but she has never tried to bite during these sessions. With time and patience, we hope she will continue to learn that she is safe and that nobody is going to hurt her. Having never lived in a home before, Louise has lots to learn. Her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she adjusts to home life and learns the basics, including house training. She is not yet ready for harness training, so her future family will need to carefully plan how and when to introduce this once she feels more secure. Everything must happen at Louise's pace so that she can continue building confidence without becoming overwhelmed. Louise is a sensitive little soul who will need a dedicated home willing to invest time, patience and understanding into helping her flourish. Every small step she takes is a huge achievement, and she continues to surprise us with just how much she is growing in confidence. With experienced adopters, kind canine companions and lots of love, we truly believe Louise will continue to blossom into the wonderful little dog we know she can become.
