Chicken Phillip

Phillip is a food-loving boy, food is definitely life for him! This makes him a great candidate for positive, reward-based training and enrichment. His new family will need to continue helping him with housetraining, as well as his ongoing muzzle training, which is particularly important for vet visits as he doesn't always enjoy being handled at the vets. While Phillip loves a cuddle, he isn't a fan of formal handling, so his adopters will need to listen to his communication and give him space when he is uncomfortable. His leaving hours will also need to be gradually built up once he has settled, as he currently finds being left for long periods difficult. Phillip will need a family committed to making multiple visits to the centre before he is ready to go home. In return, he could be a wonderful companion for an active family who would love taking their four-legged friend on adventures and discovering new places together. Meet Chicken Phillip, a handsome 7-year-old Lurcher with a big personality and a love for adventure! Phillip does well in his kennel, although busy times can sometimes leave him feeling stressed. Once out and about, he is a happy, relaxed lad who loves exploring new places and sniffing out new adventures. He can become anxious when other dogs are close by and can be a little reactive, so he would prefer quieter places where he isn't surrounded by lots of dogs. On lead, Phillip enjoys calmly sniffing and exploring, while off lead he can become very excitable and loves to run around. He is friendly and enjoys saying hello to new people and receiving fuss when he is comfortable, although he can become wary if things are repeatedly pushed on him. Phillip could potentially live with older secondary-school-aged children who understand and respect his boundaries
