Meet Oscar! He is a lovely boy with a huge personality and plenty of puppyish energy!  Oscar is a very lively, energetic and friendly boy who is always ready for his next adventure.  He is a big puppy at heart – giddy, playful and full of enthusiasm and he loves being around people.  Oscar can be quite an excitable boy and does jump up, particularly when he is happy or excited.  He is also very vocal, so his new family should be prepared for a dog who likes to make his presence known!  Oscar has a very playful side.  When staff are cleaning his kennel, he thinks the hose pipe and brushes are fantastic toys and will chase them around.  His enthusiasm can sometimes get the better of him, so he will need patient guidance to learn more appropriate ways to channel his energy.  On walks, Oscar does pull on the lead and will need continued training to help him develop his loose-lead walking skills.  He would really benefit from an owner who enjoys training and can provide consistent positive reinforcement.  Oscar is looking for an active home where he can enjoy plenty of exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation.  He is not a couch-potato kind of boy!  His ideal family will enjoy getting out and about with him and be prepared to give him the time and training he needs to mature into a well-mannered adult.  His new adopter should be willing to work on his impulse control, socialisation and general training.  As a young Lurcher, Oscar will need patience, consistency and plenty of appropriate outlets for his energy.  Underneath all that excitement is a loveable, friendly and very giddy young boy who is still learning about the world.  He will need a private secure garden. Oscar has socialised well with other dogs whilst in our care and is very playful.  We do feel he could potentially be rehomed with another lively and energetic dog of similar size following a successful meet and greet. No cats for Oscar due to his breed. As Oscar came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on him so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years. If you have a holiday booked in the next 3 months, please wait until you return to apply for a dog. *Applications that are successful will be provided with further information on each dog to the best of the charity’s knowledge.
