Miller

Meet our handsome lad Miller!  This gorgeous boy is looking for his forever home.  He is a lovely, friendly and very playful boy who has still lots of puppy in him.  He enjoys attention, loves playing with his toys and particularly enjoys chasing them around our secure compound, his football is his absolute favourite.  He does know his basic commands and is eager to learn, so his new family will have a wonderful opportunity to continue his training and help him mature into a fantastic adult dog.  As you would expect from a very young German Shepherd, he can be very vocal and likes to make his opinions known!  He also gets very excited and does jump up for attention and can become a little nippy during play.  He will need someone who understands that these behaviours are part of his current development and is willing to work with him using consistent, positive training.  He is strong on the lead and will need further work with his loose-lead walking.  His new adopter should be prepared for an active dog who needs plenty of physical exercise, mental stimulation and training.  He can also be a little cheeky! When staff are cleaning his kennel, he enjoys chasing the hose pipe and getting involved in the action. His adopter will need to continue his impulse control and teach him how to channel his energy and enthusiasm in more appropriate ways. We have also found that he will occasionally use his bed as a toilet, so his new home will need to continue working on his house training and establish a consistent routine.  He would suit an active home where his family can give him plenty of exercise, enrichment, training and attention. The most important thing is that his new family understands the breed, has the time and commitment to continue his training, and is prepared for the energy and enthusiasm of a young German Shepherd.  He is a big, bouncy, playful youngster with bags of potential.  He is still very puppy-like and will need patience, consistency and boundaries as he learns how to be the best version of himself. Miller has socialised well with other dogs while in our care, although initially he can be vocal, it doesn’t take him long to settle and start to run around playing with them.  We do feel he could be rehomed with another playful dog of similar size following a successful meet and greet. No cats for Miller. As Miller came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on him, so would prefer any children in the home to be 16+ years.
