Sundance

I can live with older children, aged 16+, who understand I need time to settle in. I need a resident dog to help me settle in and I don't mind cats! I would like a secure garden to spend time in. I am learning to walk on a harness but this is still very new for me. I have never lived in a home so I will need help to learn house training. Please read below for more information. 27-08-26 Sundance is a very scared lady who has come to us from a breeder and is such a little heartbreaker. It is so evident that she wants to be brave and is such a sweet girl, but her worries are taking over at the moment. She is going to need a home filled with plenty of TLC, patience and understanding as she slowly finds her paws and learns that the world isn’t such a scary place. Sundance will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home who she can look to and lean on for comfort as she learns about home life. She has met cats fine at the rescue and could be homed with a dog-savvy cat. She has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need to be patient as she learns about house training. We are gently introducing her to harness walking and she is doing well. We will continue working on this to help prepare her for the journey ahead and to support her during her recovery. Sundance can live with older, dog-savvy teens aged 16+ who are kind, sensible and able to offer her a calm and quiet environment to settle into. Her adopters will need to have experience with ex-breeding dogs and understand that she will need time to adjust at her own pace. With plenty of love, patience and reassurance, we are sure Sundance will slowly begin to settle, discover her confidence and let her beautiful personality shine. Upon arrival, it was quickly noted that Sundance has bilateral Grade 4 patella luxation. This is a severe condition and she will require surgical repair on both legs in the very near future. Unfortunately, the surgery will not be covered by insurance. Sundance is currently only available for adoption to an amazing adopter who is able to take on the cost of her surgery, which could be at least £4,000 and potentially up to £8,000. Her adopter would also need to be able to provide all the support she will require through her recovery, including physiotherapy and any other care recommended by her veterinary team. This is a significant financial and practical commitment, and anyone considering adopting Sundance now would need to be fully prepared to take this on. Alternatively, we are currently waiting for a surgery date from our specialist orthopaedic vet so that Sundance can have her operations here at Many Tears. Once a date has been confirmed, Sundance will be made “not ready for adoption” while she undergoes surgery and recovers. We will continue to support her throughout this process and work closely with our veterinary team to ensure she receives the care she needs. In the meantime, we are continuing to work with Sundance to improve her confidence and gently introduce her to harness walking. This will be particularly important in helping her manage during her recovery following surgery. Sundance has also arrived with a bilateral ear infection, which she will receive treatment for. Sundance is a very special and incredibly sweet girl who has a difficult journey ahead of her, but she is trying so hard to be brave. We hope that, with the right veterinary care, support, patience and understanding, she can overcome these challenges and eventually enjoy the happy, comfortable life she deserves.
