Rex

Four-year-old Rex isn’t finding kennels the easiest place to be but he does settle to bed well. He enjoys his walks and although he doesn’t do a great deal, he likes to take plenty time to sniff everything and tends to be at the very end of his lead in a bid to make sure he doesn’t miss anything! He prefers quiet times to walk in so that he can concentrate and not get frustrated by other dogs around him. If he is allowed a little sniff of a friendly dog, he becomes much less frustrated, and it would benefit him to have a few well- matched walking pals once he’s settled at home. Rex enjoys a fuss but we’re always mindful of his sore Shepherd hips, so attention should always be paid to his body language when being stroked. He likes people but is much more relaxed when he meets than on a walk, so his adopters should be sure that he meets people away from the house if it’s the first time. He has shown some resource guarding behaviours in a previous home and should be left alone with anything he considers high value. Rex LOVES toys! He really enjoys playing with them and often carries one on his walks. Rex would be looking for a home without children or other pets as he has shown some resource guarding behaviours. His adopters will need to pat multiple visits to him at the centre before going home, as Rex needs a slow approach and time to get to know people. Rex has hip dysplasia and will require lifelong pain medication. He is house trained and may need to get used to sending a few hours alone, if necessary.
